Drs. Kia Asberg and Leonardo Bobadilla of psychology and Dr. Jamie Vaske of criminology found that youths with a particular genetic marker are 2.5 times as likely to both have symptoms of depression and to abuse marijuana as those without the marker. This study was published in Addictive Behaviors, a top research journal in the field.
