Robert JacobsRobert Jacobs, assistant professor in the Health and Physical Education, recently published two articles with other colleagues in the Journal of Physiology. The first article, entitled “Haematological rather than skeletal muscle adaptations contribute to the increase in peak oxygen uptake induced by moderate endurance training”, examined peripheral vs. central limitations controlling human performance. The second, entitled “Twenty-Eight Days of Exposure to 3,454 m Increases Mitochondrial Volume Density in Human Skeletal Muscle”, studied certain skeletal muscle adaptations that occur when humans sojourn to high altitude. Both articles are now available online.
