University Participant ‘The College Experience’ Photography Exhibit’

The University Center Showroom Presents:
The University Participant Photovoice Project
April-May, 2012

The WCU University Participant (UP) Program provides an inclusive, two-year, on-campus living and learning experience for college-aged persons with intellectual disabilities. But do you know what that means?

Using digital cameras the University Participants, Aaron Hoefs, Anna-Grace Davis, Anna Joyner, Corey Hambrick, Lexie Kurrimbukus, David Maennle, Manny Zayas and Elizabeth Pritchett, captured photographs of campus life to tell their college stories.

After viewing the exhibit you may be surprised at the similarities you find between the University Participants’ college narratives and your own. Making new friends, going to classes, living in residence halls, attending sporting events, and working on campus are all elements discussed through these photographs.

Mostly, the UP Participants, like you, are learning how to be confident, independent and successful in their lives that will come after WCU. This exhibit is their documentation and celebration of this college experience.

The UC Showroom is located on the second floor of the UC and open during regular UC hours
