Dr. Carrie Rogers, Associate Professor in the School of Teaching and Learning, has been named a 2018 Association of Teacher Educators Clinical Fellow. She will participate in an “invitation-only” symposium at the ATE conference in February 2018 that will examine clinical practice and boundary-spanning roles for university- and school-based professionals at the center of all teacher education endeavors.
Dr. David Westling and Dr. Kelly Kelley, faculty members in the School of Teaching and Learning were awarded a five-year, $250,000 per-year grant. The funds, awarded from the U.S. Department of Education, will support a project titled “Roads to Learning and Earning: Preparing Personnel to Improve Post-School Outcomes” will focus on graduate level preparation of professional personnel from and for rural school districts in NC.
Dr. Dan Grube, Department Head of the School of Teaching and Learning, received the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award by his alma mater, Lyndon State College in Vermont. This honor is designed to recognize an alumni who has achieved excellence in their profession and who has served their state and community.
Marie-Line Germain, Western Carolina University associate professor of human resources and leadership, is spending two weeks in Ghana engaging in research that is aimed at understanding corporate leadership behaviors in that country and the rest of Africa. The Professional Disc Golf Association Board of Directors has selected Dr. Justin Menickelli as its new president. Dr. Menickelli, associate professor of health and physical education, has served on the board since 2015. He takes over the post recently vacated by Rebecca Duffy, who had held the position since 2011. He is also the co-author of The Definitive Guide To Disc Golf, a 190-page book about the sport that was released in 2016.
