WCU graduate named Mount Mitchell superintendent

Division of Parks and Recreation has named WCU graduate and veteran state park ranger Robert McGraw as the new superintendent of Mount Mitchell State Park in Yancey County. The superintendent is the chief of operations and administration at a state park or state recreation area with responsibilities for staffing, training, law enforcement, visitor services, natural resource protection, community outreach and environmental education. McGraw graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management. After working as a seasonal employee at Mount Mitchell State Park, he joined the division full time in 2009, serving as a ranger at Lake Norman, Mount Mitchell and Gorges state parks.

Jamaican Program Graduate Transforms Rural School

Crow and Ensley Present at Conference

Dr. Robert Crow, Assistant Professor of Educational Research and EdD student Rebecca Ensley presented “Developing Teacher-Leadership by Employing an Improvement Science Framework for Organizational Problem-Solving.” at the Carnegie Foundation Summit on Improvement in Education, San Francisco, CA on March 28. Perry Wins Award at NASPA

Dr. April Perry, program director and assistant professor of higher education student affairs was awarded the Outstanding Professional in Graduate and Professional Student Services Award by the Administrators in Graduate and Professional Student Services Knowledge Community at the NASPA Annual Convention. This is an amazing honor!
