Dr. Andrew Bobilya, Associate Professor and Program Director in Parks and Recreation Management recently published a paper titled “The North Carolina Outward Bound School Course Impression Survey: A Psychometric Investigation” in Research in Outdoor Education volume 14. This publication is part of a multi-year project with the North Carolina Outward Bound School investigating the most effective way to measure change following program participation. Dr. Bobilya is joined by co-authors Dr. Brad Faircloth of Montreat College and Dr. Alan Ewert of Indiana University.
Dr. Tom Watterson, Health and Physical Education faculty member in the School of Teaching and Learning has been selected the 2017 College/University Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Physical Education Association (NCPEA) of NCAAHPERD-SM. This award reflects his outstanding qualities and contributions as a College/University Educator. He will be honored at the NCAAHPERD-SM Convention in Winston-Salem on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
Dr. Eleanor Blair, Associate Professor in the School of Teaching and Learning, has published a chapter in: “Transformative Teacher Leadership in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and the United States: Potentiality and Possibility in Curriculum Making and School Reform Efforts.” Teaching, learning and leading in twenty-first- century schools in both the Caribbean and in the United States require the adoption of transformative practices that have the intent of redefining the parameters of educational leadership in contested public spheres to include a commitment to critical thought and social justice as key components of curriculum development.
