Acting Provost, Dr. Carol Burton, has appointed Dr. Resa Chandler, Health and Physical Education faculty member, as Chief Faculty Marshal. Faculty Marshals are senior members of the faculty who are nominated by the academic deans based on their outstanding service to the institution, excellence in teaching, and the respect of their faculty colleagues. They serve the institution as official ambassadors at university events including commencement and convocation.
Dr. Jennifer Barrett-Tatum and Dr. Lori Caudle, published an article,”Implementing new literacies instruction and design through a cross-institutional peer review process with pre-service early childhood educators” in the journal of New Horizons in Education. Jennifer Barrett-Tatum was also awarded the WCU Faculty Research and Creative Activities Grant, and will be presenting, Navigating Retention Policies, Perspectives, and Practices at the Literacy Research Association in November.
Dr. Andrew Bobilya and Dr. Resa Chandler, WCU faculty in PRM and HPE, recently published a paper with co-authors from Prescott College, Montreat College and the Millbrook School titled “The Effect of an Outdoor Orientation Program on Participants’ Biophilic Expressions” in the Journal of Outdoor and Environmental Education. CEAP faculty members, Drs. Cathy Grist, Robert Crow, Alvin Malesky, and Psychology alumni Kathryn Lang and Jon Baley presented at the 126th American Psychological Association Convention held in San Fransisco, CA. In addition, several other psychology faculty and students attended the convention as WCU representatives.
