Teacher Education students: Apply to participate in the Eleventh annual Rural-Urban Exchange (RUE), a collaborative undertaking involving the College of Education and Allied Professions (CEAP) at WCU and the School of Education at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University (NCA&T) in Greensboro. Six students from WCU and six from NCA&T will be selected to participate.
To apply, you must be admitted to the teacher education program at WCU, a junior or senior, and NOT in full-time student teaching or Internship II in Spring, 2012. Applications are due December 2, 2011.
For more information and to pick up an application, contact Dr. John Habel in the Department of Psychology (Killian 308, phone 227-3367, email: email@example.com) or Dr. Tom Oren in the School of Teaching & Learning (Reid 105, phone 227-3290, email: firstname.lastname@example.org).
Videos that promote programs in the college are now posted on our Youtube channel. These videos feature faculty and students talking about why they chose to be at WCU and what they do here. We also have videos promoting some of the programs in our college, including Teaching Fellows and majors such as Parks and Recreation Management. These videos were produced collaboratively by TRACS and Instructional Technology Support.
For information on producing videos for your unit within the college, contact Instructional Technology Support.
We have developed a consolidated application for courses that require an early field experience where placements will be made by OFE (Block, PSY 323, SPED 339, methods courses [some methods courses are made by individual programs, but if OFE is making the placements, the students need to complete the application]).
The application is now active in TaskStream (there is no paper application), and students should complete it once they register for spring courses. The deadline is November 18, though we will certainly accept late applications if students are unable to register now for some reason (not being admitted to the Teacher Education program yet, for example). Watch this video to see how the process works in TaskStream.
Contact the Office of Field Experiences for more information.
The WCU chapter of SNCAE will hold an organizational meeting on Thursday, October 20th in Killian 104 from 5-6pm. Please come and get involved! We will hold elections for officers and the executive board and discuss plans for the coming year’s activities. For more information, contact Dr. Sarah Meltzer at email@example.com.
The College of Education and Allied Professions now has an active Youtube channel. Videos on various topics relevant to the college are posted here, including examples of assignments in individual programs, TaskStream “how to” videos, general technology training, and promotional videos. Visit the channel and look through the playlists of videos that may interest you: http://www.youtube.com/user/CEAPatWCU. Contact Dr. Lee Nickles if you have or would like to create videos to add to our channel.
